Eligibility
Who should apply
- Emerging directors with a unique voice and vision.
- Creators eager to develop their skills through one-on-one mentorship.
- Directors passionate about learning the full process of filmmaking, from pre-production to working with actors.
How to Apply

Requirements
- You must be a British Columbia based director.
- 1 Project Completed out of film school. (Short, Feature, Doc, TV, Webseries)
Applicant Selection
A jury of industry professionals from QuestCoast Studios, Filmable, and The Collective Bunch will review and select four directors based on merit, creativity, and fit for the workshop.
Selected directors will be notified via email and announced publicly on QuestCoast Studios and Filmable's platforms.
Submission Guidelines
- Applicants must submit a portfolio or showreel along with their application.
- Each applicant must complete the official application form by November 1st 2024
- Only complete applications submitted by the deadline will be considered.
Workshop Contents & Deliverables
Directors will be provided with a one-page script to interpret and direct with a cast and crew provided by QuestCoast Studios and Filmable.
The workshop includes pre-production, production, and post-production guidance from experienced mentors.
Each director will produce a short film scene, which will be screened at a final community event.
Time Commitment
The workshop runs from November 18th to November 22nd, 2024, from 9 AM to 5 PM. Exact times will vary based on your assigned slot.
Participants must commit fully to the workshop schedule, including preparation, production, and post-production phases.

FAQ
Is there any cost to participate?
Participation is free! Please ensure all required information is accurate and provided in your application. You will be contacted directly if selected.
Will I be able to use the footage in my reel?
Yes, you can use the final cut for personal promotion and portfolio purposes, as long as QuestCoast Studios and Filmable are credited.
Any other distribution, including public screenings or commercial use, requires approval from QuestCoast Studios.
Can I bring my own materials, costumes, or makeup?
No, we will provide all necessary resources, including materials, costumes, and makeup.
What kind of script will we be provided?
Two pre-written scripts will be provided, and each director will be assigned a scene to direct.
Can I bring my own team or actors?
QuestCoast Studios will be providing and offering in-house crew and gear for the duration of the workshop.
Filmable will be arranging and providing working actors for the workshop.
Terms and Conditions
1 - Modifications
1.1
QuestCoast Studios and Filmable reserve the right to modify these Terms & Conditions at any time. Participants will be notified of any significant changes.
2 - Health and Safety
2.1
QuestCoast Studios will ensure that all health and safety regulations are followed during the workshop.
2.2
Participants must follow all safety instructions provided by QuestCoast Studios staff and mentors.
3 - Liabaility Waiver
3.1
By participating in the workshop, participants agree to release QuestCoast Studios and Filmable from any liability for personal injury, loss, or damage of personal property incurred during the workshop.
4 - Travel and Accommodation
4.1
Travel and accommodation are the responsibility of the participants.
4.2
QuestCoast Studios and Filmable are not responsible for any costs related to travel, accommodation, or meals outside the workshop's scheduled events.
5 - Professional Conduct
5.1
Participants must agree to and sign the QuestCoast Studios Harassment and Bullying Policy before starting the workshop.
5.2
Participants must maintain professional conduct throughout the workshop. This includes working respectfully with mentors, actors, and crew members.
6 - Ownership of Materials
6.1
QuestCoast Studios retains ownership of all materials produced during the workshop.
6.2
Participants will be granted a limited license to use the footage for personal portfolios, provided QuestCoast Studios and Filmable are credited.
7 - Use of Footage
7.1
Directors may use the final cut of their film for personal promotion and portfolio purposes only.
7.2
Any other distribution, including public screening or commercial use, must be approved by QuestCoast Studios.
8 - Copyright and Intellectual Property
8.1
All original content created during the workshop is the intellectual property of QuestCoast Studios.
9 - Non-Disclosure Agreement
9.1
Participants must sign a non-disclosure agreement regarding confidential information shared during the workshop.
10 - Changes to Schedule
10.1
QuestCoast Studios and Filmable reserve the right to change the workshop schedule, including adjustments to production times or locations, as needed.
11 - Rights to Cancel
11.1
QuestCoast Studios and Filmable reserve the right to cancel the workshop or remove any participant for violating these Terms & Conditions or for reasons beyond their control.
12 - Withdrawal by Participants
12.1
Participants may withdraw from the workshop by providing written notice. However, no compensation will be provided for costs incurred. Participants must provide a minimum of two weeks' notice. Failure to do so can result in participants covering incurred costs.
13 - Photo/Video Consent
13.1
By participating in the workshop, participants consent to being photographed or filmed by QuestCoast Studios and Filmable for promotional purposes.
13.2
Participants agree that QuestCoast Studios and Filmable may use their likeness in promotional materials, including social media and marketing campaigns.
14 - Publicity and Promotion
14.1
Participants agree to actively participate in promoting the workshop and allow QuestCoast Studios and Filmable to use their name, image, and footage in promotional activities.
15 - Dispute Process
15.1
Any disputes arising out of these Terms & Conditions will be resolved through mediation. If mediation fails, the dispute will be handled through binding arbitration. Please email production@questcoaststudios.com
16 - Privacy Policy
16.1
QuestCoast Studios and Filmable will only use personal information submitted by participants for workshop-related activities.
16.2
Personal information will not be shared with third parties without prior consent.
